Summary
How to Thrive in the Last Days  is written from the perspective of Christians who maintain theological tenets that include 1. the belief that God promises and delivers specifically but not only through prosperity and financial abundance; and, 2. that we are currently living in the end time as prophesied in the Old Testament book Ezekiel, in this instance as interpreted by John Hagee.  John Hagee is founder and Senior Pastor of Cornerstone Church in San Antonio, Texas.

The reasons both historically and in terms of recent events is given for the current financial situation in the United States along with what Americans can expect to come is explained in detail using charts and graphs. This is followed by chapter essays on how Christians can prepare and plan to not only mitigate future events but also rise above to abundance in spite of what is to come. Throughout the book, in each chapter, is interspersed blocks of end time prophetic text written by John Hagee based on his interpretation of the Old Testament book of Ezekiel.

The main purpose of How to Thrive in the Last Days is to provide practical and timely suggestions that can be applied to everyday life to make living in the end time less stressful and filled with fear of what is to come. In this respect, those who are in a quandary over how to cope with the situation may find help that will work.

From the Book Cover
Stand on God's promises and fearlessly approach your future. Today's ever-present threats of terrorist attacks, cataclysmic storms, upheaval in worldwide financial commodities, markets, and threats to the State of Israel have sparked renewed predictions that we are living in the end of time. Many live in fear of not having enough or of losing everything when end-time prophecies come to pass.

God's people need not live in a state of paralysis, wondering how they can survive uncertainty and upheaval. How to Thrive in the Last Days will show you ways of finding hope and safety in God's promises. You will learn practical and biblical ways to protect your finances and experience abundance in times of scarcity. You will learn that money is only one of many signs of wealth, and that we serve a God of limitless abundance and provision.

Among its many lessons regarding wealth are: the need to combine hard work with biblical insights, why you should save a percentage of your income instead of spending it all, the wisdom of living beneath your means, the principle of being a blessing to others, not just a channel of receiving.

Subjective Review
I read through the first three chapters and some of the fourth chapter written by Jerry Tuma, Certified Financial Planner and founder of Cornerstone Financial Services, Inc., about the stock market, world and national financial problems, housing market, predicted shortages of goods and the intentional decrease in population overall. The remainder of the book I skimmed through, having lost interest after wading through a lot of detailed numerical data.

I understood a few sentences here and there with most of it going right over my head that just doesn't think well about mathematical terms. In these chapters, the inserted prophetic text by John Hagee seemed out of place, but perhaps if I had understood all the financial calculations and bear market information they would have made sense. It is my suggestions for those people who are interested in the practical applications that How to Thrive in the Last Days offers to begin reading at Chapter 5.
