Gospel Missionary Union was founded in 1892 as the World's Gospel Union by George S. Fisher and is still in missionary ministry under the name Avant Ministries.

Evelyn Stenbock-Ditty (1929-2009) hailed from Wisconsin, the daughter of an itinerant preacher. She studied at Briercrest Bible Institute in Canada and went on to serve as a missionary for the Gospel Missionary Union in Morocco and later as their Director of Publications. Evelyn also worked for Nazarene Publishing House as an editor and staff writer and elsewhere.
