Little Ambrose, a mouse, lives with his family at the cathedral, where they have been the resident church mice for generations. It is Christmas time, and a very important time for the help and service of mice. There was so much hustle and bustle as preparations for Christmas Mass were taking place, and the girls from the convent school were really giving Mother Superior a hard time with their antics.
Ambrose was concerned about the new princess, because though she gave things to others, no one really needed her talents, and that made her very sad.
How could Ambrose help the princess? What could he do to make her happy so that she wouldn't go away? Everyone needed her. One day he risks the danger and travels into the princess's home by jumping onto her coach. Once inside, Ambrose hides himself in her handbag...and learns what he can do to get her talents recognized, and make her happy!
As with Ambrose and the Cathedral Dream, Margo Sorenson and Katalin Szegedi create an imaginative story with richly colored illustrations and lessons to be learned within the setting of a medieval cathedral.
