Author Margaret Feinberg's well written book Fight Back with Joy presents itself as one of multifaceted topics that will appeal to readers with a variety of reasons. Looking at the content from the personal perspective of what can this book do for me I can offer the following.
- Christians who are seekers desiring to draw closer to God will find how Margaret actively pursued a Godly joy that admits confidence during the most trying times in life.
- Christian seeking examples of how prominent biblical leaders lived lives with joy will read Margaret's description of Paul, Nehemiah, Habakkuk, and others, and how she applied their stories to her life.
- Readers will discover how Margaret found joy for herself by giving to others.
- Readers will learn how they too can live life based on the concept of accept, adapt, depend that is rooted in biblical principles.
- Both men and women going through intensive cancer treatment, grief and tragedy will see how Margaret survived and triumphed through diligently pursuing joy and that they too can have victory.
- Helpful suggestions for friends and family of people going through hard times.
- How choosing a one-word life principle for the year may be more successful that new year resolutions, and Margaret lived out her goal word joy.
Already on page 2 of Fight Back with Joy she states, "No need to wait for joy to arrive mysteriously in the mail one day. I needed to try spiritual practices that might nurture joy." Christians don't need to wait for God to something for them that they need as a solution to a problem. Instead, Christians can be an active participant in the solution by using concepts in God's word, the Holy Bible.
My last remark is to emphasize that Fight Back with Joy, Margaret Feinberg's autobiographical account of going through chemotherapy for breast cancer, is not only for women, not only for women with breast cancer, and not only for any person facing treatment for cancer. The main point of this book is to tell about living the Christian principle of joy in all circumstances every day, a joy that sets a firm foundation for facing anything that happens.
