Stori-tel Books: Stories that children enjoy. Each book contains 64 pages with bright two color paper covers. 50 cents each.

Aunt Theresa Worman, director of the KYB Club, radio station WMBI, Chicago, Illinois.

Three Cheers for the Bangles contains a poem of the same title as the book, and nine independent stories about the Bangle children and their parents. The stories are moral tales with the Bible teaching right behavior. The following are three examples of what the stories are about.

1. Right Down into Your Heart: When Billy and Patty Bangle go berry picking they make it into a contest to see who can pick the most.  Mother Bangle weighs the berries and Billy is declared the winner.  Patty came close but only because she took berries from Billy's pail and put them in her own.  Mother Bangle explains to her that yielding to temptation to sin and that she must admit to Billy what she did and ask forgiveness which Patty willingly does.

2. The Rescue: Billy is warned by Mother Bangle not to go ice skating with his friends because in March the ice on lakes is not safe but goes anyhow. One of the boys, Danny, falls into open water. The boys are able to get him out of the water but end up trapped on an island.  When it gets late and Billy is still not home, Patty frets about what to do because she demanded her brother's special pen in return for her silence. In the end Patty does tell her mother and parents rush to the lake to rescue the boys off the island. Safe at home, Billy regrets his disobedience, Patty no longer wants the pen and the Bangle parents are grateful that all of the children are safe.

3. When to Tell: Billy and Patty are playing with Billy's new ball in the living room when it hits and shatters Mother Bangle's delicate china cup.  Not wanting to be found out they glue the cup back together as best they can. Three weeks later guests come for tea and the repaired cup shatters spilling its contents all over Mrs. Ashton's dress. Billy and Patty tearfully confess what they had done. When Mother Bangle is embarrassed over their confession in front of guests, Mrs. Ashton reminds her that "it is better for all of us to be hurt and embarrassed than to have the sin covered and unconfessed and unforgiven."

Three Cheers for the Bangles
I say, "Three Cheers for the Bangle Crew!"
With the help of the Father they came through;
They never stay sad;
They never stay bad;
They're trying, you see, God's will to do.

I say, "Three Cheers for the Bangle Home!"
With the help of the Son they're never alone;
In need of all kind,
Christ has them in mind
And cares for their wants from His heavenly Throne.

I say, "Three Cheers for the Bangle Five!"
With the help of the Spirit they keep alove
A love for the best
That stands the test;
He helps them the Lord to magnify.

I say, Dear Bangles, with God by your side,
Your pathway to light, your life to guide,
Do watch your walk,
And watch your talk
So others may know that in Christ you abide.

Synopsis
Jean Myers is a pale faced little girl with a cruel hump on her back who has not been able to walk since she was two years old. Though bound to her wheelchair and not being able to leave her home, Jean has a sunny, contagious spirit because she lives through Jesus Christ. Jean's widowed mother must work six days a week at a tailor shop to support them but she is not lonely, for she has a dog named Squirrel and the many friends who visit along with the silent relationships she was formed with people who pass by her window.

Dr. Prescott, Jean's physician, is the first to find the light of Christ through her simple yet profound understanding of the difference between knowing intellectually that Jesus is the Son of God and having Christ's living light in one's own heart. God uses Dr. Prescott to witness to Ned Manton and to the new Pastor at Old Stone Church, leading them to accept Christ as their personal Savior. In turn, Ned and the Rev. Waller through Christ bring Ned's basketball team, Miss Daniel and her Sunday School class to saving faith while Old Stone Church experiences a revival.

The story ends with the basketball team bringing Jean to the church on Easter Sunday. It is the first time she has been able to go to church. Jean is overjoyed to see her friends baptized. In the last chapter Ned goes off to college where he witnesses his faith to classmates.
