Mortimer is a happy little mouse, and only wished for a warmer, cozier home. One day, as he scurried about in the house, he spied a house just his size sitting on a table. It took a little effort, but Mortimer managed to get up on to the table. After establishing that the residents of the little home were statues, he moved them out and moved himself in--only each day he had to go through the whole process again.

Then, one day he overheard the people telling a story--the story of Baby Jesus who had no home of his own and had to sleep in a manger. Mortimer realized who the little baby statue represented, ... and .....

Babamarusia's Review: Here is a lovely telling of the meaning of Christmas and the Christ Child. Beautifully illustrated, delightfully dramatic in a childlike way. I thoroughly enjoyed reading this story, and suspect that it may become a favorite of many families, to be read year after year, for many years to come.
